Notes about Swatislaw van Kiëv

NOTE: Svjatoslav (920-973), grootvorst van Kiëv van 962 tot 973, zoon van Igoren en Olga, vernietigde het rijk van de Chazaren in 962-969. Op verzoek vande Byzantijnse keizer Nicephorus Phocas veroverde hij in 967/968 het rijk van de Bulgaren, sloeg in 969 de door de Bulgaren te hulp geroepen Petsjenegen terug en vestigde zich als heerser in Bulgarije. Van deze veroveringen moest hij echter afzien nadat hij door keizer JohannesTzimisces werd verslagen (971). Hij sneuvelde op de terugweg naar Kiëv in een veldslag tegen de Petsjenegen.
