Notes about Berengar II d'Ivrea

NOTE: Berengarius II (gest. Bamberg 6 aug. 966), markgraaf van Ivrea, was eenkleinzoon van Berengarius I, leidde het verzet van de Italiaanse edelentegen Hugo van Arles, koning van Italië en Provence. Van 945 tot 950 wistBerengarius de macht in Italië aan zich te trekken, terwijl Hugo en laterdiens zoon Lotharius in naam koning bleven. In 950 liet Berengarius zichtot koning kronen. De Duitse koning Otto I greep nu in. Berengarius werdverslagen, maar bleef in Otto's naam in Italië regeren (952). Hijtrachtte zich in de volgende jaren steeds uit zijn afhankelijke positiete bevrijden. In 961 kwam Otto zelf met een leger naar Italië om tegenBerengarius op te treden. In 962 liet Otto zich daar tot keizer kronen.De strijd duurde tot 963. Berengarius en zijn gemalin Willa werden toennaar Duitsland gedeporteerd.
