It is with sadness that I post this news about the passing of Sophia Angenent:
Surrounded by family at home, Sophia bravely lost her battle with cancer on February 20, 2024. She leaves behind her cherished and devoted husband of 67 years, Christopher, her daughters Wynando (Robin Moore), Christine (Darrell Petite), Mary, and Corrie (Michael Montpetit).
Sophia held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren: Brayden, Kellan, Kyle, Meghan, Andrew, Tamara, Jennifer, and Joey, and her 15 great grandchildren.
Sophia is survived by her brother Dolf Versteegh of the Netherlands and predeceased by her brother Arie Versteegh.
Sophia had a passion for sewing that was evident throughout her life. It was later in life that she turned her passion into a career becoming a tailor at RMC tailoring uniforms and mess kits for Cadets. Her talent did not go unnoticed, and she quickly transferred to CFB-Kingston, where she not only tailored uniforms and mess kits for Officers, but many high-ranking Officers sought out Sophia personally to court mount their medals, knowing they would receive the highest attention to detail and superb workmanship that went into each mount.
Sophia loved cooking and gardening. Chris and Sophia's property on Wolfe Island boasted many beautiful gardens that she lovingly tended. Her interest in herbs and plants, not only allowed her to create unique culinary dishes from scratch, including her Dutch-Indonesian Rice Table, but she also made Calendula suave known for its healing properties that she generously shared with family, friends, and anyone else that was in need.
Family extends their extreme gratitude to Dr. Kondor, Palliative Care Doctor, and the nursing staff at ParaMed, Home Health Care Services, for the excellent care Sophia received.
Arrangements entrusted to Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. Celebration of Life at a later date.
