Heilwich van Rode geeft 1133 aanleiding tot de moord op Floris de Zwarte van Holland. Heilwiva van Rode, die na de dood van haar ouders onder de voogdij van haar oom Herman kwam, moet in 1133 tot de huwbare leeftijd zijn gekomen, waardoor ze de aandacht trok van Floris de Zwarte, broer van de graaf van Holland. Zij was door haar uitgebreide bezittingen een aantrekkelijke huwelijkspartner. De familie van de graven van Holland en de familie Van Cuijk lagen elkaar vanwege een hoop oud zeer echter niet, zodat Floris met geweld een huwelijk met Heilwiva van Rode probeerde af te dwingen. Dit liep verkeerd voor hem af omdat hij bij Abstede door oom Herman werd doodgestoken.
