    Woensdagmiddag tijdens den hevigen storm heeft te Sluis 6 een droevig ongeval plaats gevonden. De 26-jarige Margje Dam, wonende aan de Heinbaaswijk, begaf zich op het moment dat de storm het hevigst was, even naar buiten met het doel een paar appels te plukken in den tuin.
    Terwijl zij hiermee bezig was is een der groote eikenboomen nabij den ouderlijken woning losgerukt en tegen den grond geslagen. Hoewel haar moeder vanuit den woning het ongeval zag aankomen en naar buiten snelde om haar dochter te waarschuwen was dit reeds te laat. Zij vond haar dochter met een der beenen bekneld onder den boom liggen. Het nam nogal eenige tijd in beslag voordat het meisje uit haar benarde positie verlost was, terwijl
    zij aanvankelijk klaagde over pijn in den rug, buik en beenen.
    Dr Ruys, die onmiddelijk ter plaatse verscheen constateerde een beenbreuk en vermoedelijk een nierscheuring.
    Het been werd nog gezet. Nog dienzelfden dag plm 3 uur is zij tengevolge van inwendige kneuzingen overleden. De deelneming met het zo getroffen gezin is algemeen. Dat de kracht van den storm hevig geweest is, bewijst wel het feit, dat de boom, welke in geenendeele onvast stond met wortel en al uit den grond gescheurd is.

    Een droeve plechtigheid.
    Maandigmiddag werd op de algemene begraafplaats in het Achterveld ter aarde
    besteld het stoffelijk overschot van de dochter van den landbouwer Dam te Sluis 6, die Woensdag j.l. tijdens den storm op zoo noodlottige wijze doodelijk werd getroffen door een vallende eik.
    Aan de geopende groeve werd een kort woord gesproken door de heren S. Drost en A. van Haeringen. De leden van de Meisjesvereninging 'Eunice', waarvan de overledene lid was, volgden de baar em zongen op het kerkhof een psalmvers. Diep onder den indruk verlieten allen den doodenakker.
