Notes about Leah FRANTZ

According to p. 44 of the Dore M. Frantz Burials document, Leah's tombstone reads "Leah Flory, died January 19, 1912, aged 73 yrs., 3 mo., 13 ds." Calculating backwards from that age at death would yield a birthdate of 6 Oct 1838. That, however, would be in conflict with her sister Christina's birthdate. SoI am going by the birthdate from Lowell Beachler's family group sheets. Thefollowing, written by Leah, and illustrating her sense of humor, was among the keepsakes of Mary Hannah Flory Cover: "And it came to pass in those days, that Jesse, the some of David, went into the woods to hue timber; and while moving a huge log he fell with his leg under him and lo, one bone broke asunder, hard by the ankle joint. And he got himself on his beast of burden and rode to his fathers house and called to his wife, Mary, to fetch him a staff where with to reach the house. Then called his younger brother, who is also called Elmer, and said "go quickly to the village of Camden and telephone to thy elder brother, the physician, who liveth in the city of Eaton, and say 'make no delay, but come with all speed to thy father David's house, for behold my leg is broken.'" So his elder brother, the physician, came with haste and bound up his leg, pouring on egg and alum, and said unto him "thou shalt not walk on this leg for forty and two days', which caused great grief unto him and also his wife, Mary, and also to the whole house of his father David. And straightway on the morrow, his elder brother, the physician, came back and encased his leg in plaster-of-paris, saying 'thus shalt thou leave it for twentyand eight days, and forth with went back to his home in Eaton. Written by his mother Leah who will send it without delay by the hand of her servant Olie.
