Notes about Cara Lane Conrad

Hello Stephanie, I'm always glad to hear from other researchers here on Ancestry.
You and I are actually not related. My wife's first husband was Daniel James Conrad. They had a daughter, Cara Lane Conrad, then divorced. Cara was adopted by my wife's second husband, Michael Patrick Truskoski, but that marriage also ended in divorce. I married my wife in 1993.
My wife has had no contact with the Conrad family since her divorce from Daniel in 1984. Sadly, Cara passed away in January of this year from cancer at the age of 37. She did have 4 children who you would be related to.
I see that you have already made extensive use of my tree. I specifically make my tree public in order to help other researchers and I'm glad that I've been able to help you. I have no other information on your family other than what is posted in my tree but I'd be happy to try and answer any questions you may have, if I can.
My wife and I are members of the Western Michigan Genealogical Society here in Grand Rapids. You may want to consider joining this group to help you learn about this fascinating hobby. We are also members of the Ionia County Genealogical Society. They are a small but very dedicated group specific to Ionia County.
I would highly recommend testing your DNA at Ancestry.com. This new field of genealogical research is exploding and can sometimes be difficult to keep up with. The WMGS has an informal, monthly discussion group for DNA research. I have been attending those for about two years. If you are interested in learning about DNA testing, and how to use those results to further your research, that would be a perfect place to start. In fact, this Thursday evening is the next meeting. They are held at the downtown branch of the Grand Rapids Public library. I will be attending this week.
I can also be reached at my email, (XXXXX@XXXX.XXX)I look forward to hearing back from you.Rick Lanting
