Rudolf I van Coucy (1134-1191 tijdens het Beleg van Akko) was een zoon van Engelram II van Coucy en van Agnes van Beaugency. Hij volgde zijn vader in 1149 op als heer van Coucy. Rudolf was gehuwd met:


 


Agnes van Henegouwen (-1173), de Manke, dochter van Boudewijn IV van Henegouwen,


Adelheid (1152-), dochter van Robert I van Dreux,


 


en werd de vader van:

Volgens de overlevering gaf hij de opdracht aan een schildknaap om na zijn overlijden zijn hart te bezorgen aan zijn minnares. De echtgenoot van deze dame kon de schildknaap echter onderscheppen engaf het hart te eten aan zijn onwetende vrouw. Toen deze vrouw besefte wat zij had opgegeten, weigerde zij vervolgens elk voedsel en stierf van honger.
