Maria Theresia is erg toegetakeld door een dronkaard en in 1908 overleden aan de gevolgen daarvan. De dader was ene Remi Roggeman die nadien jaren in een gesticht werd geplaatst. Haar zoon Jules Coen die de man erg toetakelde(werd met een mes bedreigd) heeft nog geluk gehad dat hij zelf niet werd veroordeeld. De rechter maakte hem de opmerking dat hij mocht van geluk spreken dat zijn moeder overleden was.
Maria Theresia is overleden thuis in haar bed , Nieuwstraat 160 Lede.
