Absalom Roach served with Albemarle County Militia, Virginia Militia during the American Revolution.

Absalom Roach was born in Virginia.
Absalom Roach was born around 1757[1]in Augusta County, Virginia, which would later become Rockingham County. His father Reuben Roach and his mother Ester Harris. He grew up his early years in the Shenandoah Valley, an area rich in farmland, how his family made a living. With a thriving community, lush meadows surrounded by forested mountains,[2]it must have appeared as a peaceful life with everything to offer. This no doubt instilled the strong desire to defend this land with most of his brothers, including himself, fighting in the Revolutionary War to defend it.
Absalom volunteered for service on October 8, 1779[3], during the American Revolutionary War, joining the Continental Army as a private in Captain Ambrose Madison Company, Regiment of Volunteer Guards at the Barracks in Albemarle County, Virginia, commanded by Colonel Francis Taylor. During this time, he primarily transported prisoners from Albermarle County to Winchester.[4]At some point, he must have transported prisoners to Charlottesville, as he got into some trouble with the Warden of the facility. He was placed in confinement by Colonel Theodorick Bland Warden at Charlottesville. The reason for his confinement is not known, but he was later released as a show of leniency to convey to the other soldiers in the garrison that they would be dealt with fairly.[5]
The only battle he mentions where he was involved is the Battle of Yorktown, a decisive Patriot victory where British General Cornwallis was forced to surrender on October 19, 1781. He severed a total of about two years after being discharged, returning to Rockingham County.[4]
After the war, Absalom Roach married Nancy Meadows on 1782 in Rockingham County, Virginia.[6]Where he would raise his family, settling into farming life the same as his father before him.
On September 12, 1888, Absalom sold ten acres of an eighty acre tract of land in Rockingham County, Virginia located on the north fork of the Hawksbill Creek to Stephen Shiflett for the sum of two hundred dollars.[7]
Upon his death around 1840, he left his land to his son-in-law William Morris, who had married his daughter Molly Roach, his entire estate.[7]
