Christopher lived for many years in a stone house on the banks of the Schuylkill five miles south of Reading at what is now known as Gibraltar. He was an innkeeper and well-to-do. At his death, his estate amounted to $10,000. Several of his sons were soldiers in the Revolutionary War.
