Biography
Bernard Stroud and his wife Keziah Harper "had a large family, nine of whom lived to grow up. The five sons were James, Jacob, Bernard, and Samuel, and one who was killed in battle when scarcely of age, name unknown, but believed to be John. Of the four daughters, Jemima married Aaron Depui; Jane, Enoch Anderson; while Keziah and Deborah remained single. James went to Virginia and left many children; Jacob was the founder of Stroudsburg, Monroe County; and Samuel, the youngest child, went to Kentucky when it was first settled."[1]
The book, "The Strouds: a colonial family of English descent" by A.B. Stroud, publ. 1919, attaches John to Bernard, but discusses a story that John was nearly 105 years old when he died in 1835 after falling off his horse and drowning in a creek.

Barnard Strode married in 1722 to Keziah Harker, daughter of Samuel Harker of the Isle of Jersey, England and Amwell, New Jersey. His son James went to Virginia, his son Jacob founded Stroudsburg, PA, Samuel went to Kentucky, Barnard later moved to Northampton, PA, and he died 1782.[13]
