Arthur was the youngest child of William and Sarah Buttriss.
Arthur was a tall man of at least six feet with fair hair and blue eyes. He was a thickset man and by middle age became quite heavy and was prone to bouts of Dropsy like his mother Sarah.
Started work as a labourer at 12 years old and continued with this country work till he was 20 years old.
Arthur Buttriss set up a Timber Saw Mill in Show Street Forbes. The family home stood next door, where he took his bride and in which all eight children were born. Arthur owned a second property at Griffith on which he raised goats and under took chaff cutting. Arthur owned a sheep station for 20 years.
Arthur belonged to the Forbes Clay Pigeon Club. From the age of 20 and for the next 25 years he was a Professional Clay Pigeon Shooter. A fellow member was Dr McCean a local medical practitioner. A Pigeon Shoot was arranged in Sydney and attended by the Forbes team, which included Arthur and the Doctor. When competition was over Arthur found that he was the winner of a ladies diamond Bracelet that he promptly presented to his wife. Cecilia wore the Bracelet on special outing for the rest of her life.

MR A.H. BUTTRISS
FORBES ADVOCATE 12th April 1950
A life-long resident of the Forbes district in the person of Mr Arthur Henry Buttriss aged 77 passed away at the home of his sons in Hilda Street last Saturday.
The deceased had been ailing for over 12 months. He was a retired saw miller and at one time was on the land at Griffith. His wife predeceased him in 1937 but he leaves a family of five sons and three daughters. The sons are Messrs Sidney (Queensland) Norman (Sydney) Herbert, Allan and John (Forbes) while the daughter are Mrs T. Haywood (Forbes) Misses Violet (Forbes) and Molly (Sydney)
The deceased was a very old Forester and member of Court Lachlan Forbes who marched at his funeral yesterday morning from the Cemetery gates to the Church of England section where the Rev. A. E. White performed the service at the gravesite.
Mr A. G. Jones had charge of the mortuary arrangement.

MRS A. H. BUTTRISS
A Native of the Forbes District in the person of Mrs. Cecilia Margaret May Buttriss, wife of Mr A. H. Buttriss of South Condobolin Road passed away in the District Hospital on Thursday night after being an inmate of the institution for only a week.
After her return from Griffith just prior to the Forbes Show. Mrs Buttriss had been in her normal state of Health but about that time the family received word of the accident to one of their number, Mr Sidney Buttriss, who lost some fingers in a sawmill accident at Moree and the mother worried considerably. This nervous trouble and a heart attack brought about her unexpected end. The deceased was the daughter of the late Mr George Debenham and was born at Forbes in 1877 so that she was in her 61st year. Her marriage to Mr A. H.Buttriss took place in December 1901 and the issue of the union was five sons and three daughters, all of whom with her husband survive. The Sons are Messrs Herbert (Narrabri) Sidney (Moree) Allen, Norman, John, (Forbes), while the daughters are Misses Molly, Violet, and Daphne all of Forbes. Brothers of the Deceased are W. J. Styles (Garema) and G. Styles (Ironbarks) are deceased’s Step Brothers.
The funeral at 3pm on Saturday afternoon was to the Church of England portion of the local cemetery the funeral cortege moving from St. John’s Church. Rev. H. Pitcher performed the last sad rites at the graveside while Mr A. G. Jones had charge of the mortuary arrangements
