William and Mary moved to Millthorpe and lived on a propert known as "Rose Hill". The property consisted of 180 acres of good soil producing wheat, potatoes and vegetables, dairying and sheep. A large orchard had been planted and continued to produce all kinds of fruit - apples, pears and cherries, figs, mulberries, English fruit pomegranates and currant raspberries, and a flower garden. The orchard was later occupied and managed by their son Edwin and his family and later the property was divided and Alfred and his family came to reside on a portion known as "Woodside".
Additional notes received from Grace Douglass: Members of his family are still located near Orange. On moving to Spring Grove the couple purchased a property of a little over 350 acres which they called 'Rose Hill' Farm. In the rich soil they grew wheat, potatoes and vegetables and kept cows and sheep and planted a large orchard consisting of apples , pears, cherries, figs, mulberries, english pomegranates, currents and rasberries.
