    Ruben Soesan was een zoon van David Soesan en Rachel Benedictus de Vries. Hij trouwde op 16 Maart 1887 met Rachel Kat, een dochter van Abraham Kat en Eva Biet. Het echtpaar kreeg twaalf kinderen, te weten Eva, Fenna, Johanna, Abraham, Esther, Klaartje, David, Salomon, Benedictus, Engelina (die in 1918 overleed), Sara en Rebecca.

    Rachel Kat overleed in Amsterdam op 9 April 1923 en Ruben Soesan hertrouwde daar op 21 Februari 1924 met Dientje Polak, dochter van Hijman Polak en Schoontje Roe.
