Josephine Engelsman, een dochter van Joseph Engelsman en Rebecca Engelsman, trouwde in Amsterdam op 20 Juli 1932 met Nathan Baruch, een zoon van Abraham Baruch en Betje van Gelder.
Josephine Engelsman kwam uit een gezin met totaal negen kinderen, waarvan vijf kinderen jong gestorven zijn, 'e9'e9n zoon de oorlog heeft overleefd en drie kinderen tijdens de oorlog zijn omgekomen, waaronder zijzelf en Grietje. Dan had zij nog een broer Hijman, gehuwd met Aaltje Buijtekant, die reeds in 1924 was overleden.
