Nicie always described herself as a farm wife. She canned, made preserves, cooked, mended, quilted, and made lye soap. She washed clothes in a wash pot outside.

She was famous for her chocolate and peach fried pies.

She and Pa would lay sheets on the top of the barn and dry pears. They also killed hogs every winter.
