- He came to Lake County when he was 2 years old. He lived on a farm in Avon until 1897 when he moved to Libertyville.
- He married Eunice Fenlon of Sand Lake on November 6, 1873.
- He and Eunice had one daughter (Mrs. R. W. Churchill of Grayslake - from the 1910 and 1930 census data, it appears that her name was "Ethel A" and her husband's name was "Rolla W").
- At the time of his death, his wife, daughter, three grand daughters and several half brothers and sisters survived him.
