Notes about Egidius (Aegidius) VAN Ophem

Voor zover wij weten zijn alle hedendaagse Nederlanders met de familienaam Van Ophem nakomelingen van dit echtpaar. De voorouders van Egidius zijn echter, ondanks verwoed zoeken, in Brussel niet gevonden. Wel was er een toevallige vondst in een catalogus van een universiteitsbibliotheek: Egidius van Ophem blijkt een drukker en uitgever te zijn. Dit opent nieuwe perspectieven. Vandaar deze nieuwe vraag: Wie kent informatiebronnen waarin mogelijk iets staat over Brusselse drukkers/uitgevers in de achttiende eeuw?
In Nederland ken ik als mogelijkheden voor verder onderzoek de KB en de speciale collectie van de universiteitsbibliotheek van de UVA.

N.B. Twee Brusselse families Van Ophem zijn uitgebreid beschreven (in het Frans) in Brabantica, 1971, pag. 1069-1166 door Pierre De Tienne en Francois de Cacamp.
Ook de heer Lindemans heeft iets over Van Ophem geschreven in een klein boekje "Oude Brabantse Geslachten nr. 18", uit 1945.

De exacte geboortedatum van Egidius van Ophem is niet bekend, maar ligt vermoedelijk tussen 1709-1711. Hij overleed in 1757 en werd op 23 juli van dat jaar begraven in de Noorderkerk te Hoorn.
Hij trouwde op 11 november 1736 met Marie Aaltje Baseijk (geboren op 29 augustus 1704 in Wijk bij Duurstede als dochter van Petrus Baseijk en Stijntje Aersse van Bentum en gestorven op 19 januari 1769). Egidius en Marie kregen vier kinderen: Anna, Franciscus Xaverius (als baby gestorven), Franciscus, en
Johannes (Jan).
In de huwelijksakte uit 1736 wordt vermeld dat Egidius uit Brussel afkomstig was. In 1745 wordt vermeld dat zijn drukkerij gevestigd was op de Zee-Dyk. Het uithangbord vermeldde ‘Nieuwe Drukkery.’
Zijn zoon, Jan (doopnaam Joannes) van Ophem (geboren op 21 november 1742 in Hoorn en gestorven op 26 juli 1815), zette de drukkerij voort en was
er werkzaam van 1764 tot 1786. Aanvankelijk deed hij dit met zijn moeder onder de naam “Wed. Ophem en zoon” en later zelfstandig. Om onenigheid met zijn broer Frans (doopnaam Franciscus) te voorkomen, sloten Jan en zijn moeder in 1767 een contract waarin geregeld werd dat Jan na haar dood de boek- en papierwinkel over zou nemen.
