    Hij werd geboren den 9e Maart 1877 te Heemstede.
    Gehuwd met: Maria Joanna de Loor.
    Eerder met: Joanna Catharina de Loor.
    Den 31sten Augustus 1940 gaf hij zijn ziel aan den Schepper terug.
    Zijn lichaam wacht de verrijzenis af op het St. Bavokerkhof te Heemstede.
    Hij was een zorgzame vader. Een voorbeeld van getrouwe en stipte plichtsbetrachting.
    Wij moeten gedenken, hoe hij beproefd is en door vele beproevingen de vriend van God geworden is. Judith VIII-22.

Notes about Johannes Gerardus "Jan" Blom

Jan Blom wordt op vrijdag 9 maart 1877 om 21.00 uur geboren in het huis aan de Leydschevaart A 145-B te Heemstede waar zijn vader een tapperij heeft. Hij heeft een echte koopmansgeest en op jonge leeftijd handelt hij al in diverse artikelen. Op zaterdag 13 juli 1878 vertrekt het gezin naar Haarlem, waar zijn vader een tapperij annex slijterij (De Deensche Os) overneemt aan de Spekstraat 4. In maart 1894 verhuist het gezin naar de Pieter Kiesstraat 70 te Haarlem. Jan trouwt op donderdag 7 juni 1900 in Haarlem met Jo de Loor. Ze gaan wonen aan de Spekstraat 2 naast de tapperij van zijn vader. Jan werkt er eerst als papierhandelaar en later als uitgever. Hier worden vier kinderen geboren waarvan er één op jonge leeftijd overlijdt. Als zijn vader in 1904 overlijdt erft hij als enig overgebleven kind een aantal panden in het centrum van Haarlem (o.a. Spekstraat 2 en 4, een pakhuis aan de Guldenbergerpoort uitkomend op de Grote Houtstraat en een pand aan de Achterstraat (later Anthoniestraat). Op zaterdag 17 juni 1905 verhuist het gezin naar de Bilderdijkstraat 58 te Haarlem. Daar wordt in 1906 nog een zoon geboren. In 1909 verhuist het gezin naar de Binnenweg 63 te Heemstede.
