Alex Albert Badke was born in Tugaske, Saskatchewan north of Moose Jaw on July 7th, 1916 to Amelia and Albert Badke. He was the youngest of six children: 3 boys and 3 girls. He grew up on the family farm near Tugaske moving to the Elk Hill area when he was 15. He worked in farming and in the bush cutting lumber for several years until he joined the United Grain Growers Construction Company. He worked as a Construction Forman for the UGG for 35 years until his retirement in 1981. Alex enjoyed carpentry work very much and worked on several house building and renovation projects in the Nipawin area for several years after retiring. He also enjoyed camping and fishing and went on many trips during his long retirement. He met and married his lifelong companion (63 years) Dorothy Tucker on December 12th, 1942. He is predeceased by his parents and two brothers: Ernie and Loyal and two sisters: Adeline and Hazel. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Dorothy and his four children: Mervin (Lillian), Gary, Dale and Debra and his sister Violet (passed away in 2006), and three grandchildren: Germaine, Danny and Michael. Alex passed away on February 11th, 2006 at Nipawin Hospital. Albert and Alex along with 2 infant Badke`s are buried in Elkhill Cemetery west of Codette. Alex`s wife Dorothy still resides in Nipawin. Sittting on ground in front of mother.
