Paul August Brenninkmeijer, grote vriend van de Latijnse Patriarchaat van Jeruzalem teruggekeerd naar de Vader op 18 september. Hij was een zeer royale weldoener aan de Kerk van het Heilige Land, en een ridder van de Ridderorde van het Heilig Graf (Lieutenancy van Duitsland). Hij zal worden begraven in zijn geboortedorp in Mettingen (Duitsland).

De Latijnse Patriarchaat spreekt haar grote dank uit voor alle steun en genegenheid die Paul August Brenninkmeijer door de manier waarop hij zijn leven leefde als een christelijk getuigenis. Hij was van Duits-Nederlandse nationaliteit en een afstammeling van de oprichters van de kledingketen C & A. Dit familiebedrijf werd opgericht in Friesland Bataafse (Nederland) in 1841, waarvan de nakomelingen zijn nog steeds in controle en management van de Groep wordt gekenmerkt door haar katholieke waarden. Gemotiveerd door het geloof, Brenninkmeijer vaak aangetoond onfeilbare humanitaire activisme, het handhaven van het welzijn van vele vooral in educatieve activiteiten en projecten in het Heilige Land en andere derde-wereld landen. De familie is bekend dat slechts zeer weinig interviews te geven.

De Latijnse Patriarchaat onthouden 'Paul August's liefde en materiële bijstand voor het Heilige Land. " Hij was een oprechte vriend van het volk en zijn steun stroomde uit liefde en geloof, dat werd gevoed door de nauwe banden die hij had gesmeed met het land van Jezus. "Caritas et Fides 'zijn beide motoren van zijn vrijgevigheid. Hij Seminary projecten ondersteund in Beit Jala en nam deel aan tal van projecten, groot en klein. Zijn gaven waren de financiële middelen voor de parochies (in Jordanië, Palestina en Israël), religieuze gemeenschappen (met inbegrip van Abu Dis), met inbegrip van de Creche van Bethlehem. Zijn acties werden ook tot uiting in het opstarten van grote projecten aan scholen herbouwen of aan de gezondheid van toezicht en het welzijn van de studenten (problemen die buiten de aandacht van de weinige). Paul August Brenninkmeijer was iemand, wiens vrijgevigheid was meer dan woorden.

Bisschop William Shomali, hulpbisschop van Jeruzalem herinnert zich een "rustige en bescheiden man" die weigerden 'de plaques en medailles van eer en publieke erkenningen "en toonde zijn gehechtheid aan het Heilige Land, komen voor bezoeken vele malen."

De begrafenis zal worden gehouden in de St. Agatha Kerk in Mettingen, nabij Osnabrück (Duitsland) op zaterdag 24 september om 11.30 uur. Vader Humam Khzouz, administrateur-generaal van het Latijnse Patriarchaat zal de begrafenis bij te wonen en betuigen onze diepe dankbaarheid jegens de familie Brenninkmeijer, Paul's vrouw Gerarda en hun zes kinderen (een van hen is Moeder Abdis Theresia van het cisterciënzer klooster in Denemarken) en kleinkinderen. Wij bieden onze gebeden voor de eeuwige rust Paul August's en voor zijn familie in deze tijd van het verlies.
