Anton van Duinkerken, pseudoniem van Willem Jan Marie Anton Asselbergs, werd op 2 januari 1903 te Bergen op Zoom geboren als oudste van negen kinderen van de bierbrouwer Antonius Johannes Aloijsius (Toon) Asselbergs (Bergen op Zoom 20 februari 1877-Amsterdam 25 december 1940) en Cornelia Maria Gerberdina (Cor) van Loon (Bergen op Zoom 27 maart 1879-Nijmegen 20 juni 1939). Hij trouwde in Bergen op Zoom op 8 september 1930 met Leonie Judith Anna Arnolds (Bergen op Zoom 22 juni 1903-Arnhem 21 april 1990), dochter van Joannes Arnoldus Dominicus Arnolds (Gulpen 17 juli 1871-Utrecht 12 mei 1941) en Hubertine Louise Melanie Nederveen (Gulpen 14 april 1874-Utrecht 6 juli 1949). Uit het huwelijk werden vier zonen en vier dochters geboren.Van Duinkerken overleed te Nijmegen op 27 juli 1968.
