Notes about Gomes Mendes Guedeão

Gomes Mendes Guedeão (1070 – 1170) was a medieval knight of the county Portucalense, was the heir to the death of his parents and who gave continuity to the family. It is documented for the years 1121 to c. 1130.
He served as governor of the lands of Celorico de Basto and Panoias, between the years 1132 and 1139. He received from D. Afonso Henriques The Couto of the monastery of São Miguel de refojos de Basto. In this donation the King is careful to mention "that I love you because you have always been faithful to me." He made the donation to the monastery of Refojos of a golden silver chalice, where it is possible to see the date of 1152. This chalice is currently at the Machado de Castro Museum in Coimbra.
He served as an intermediary and guarantor of the faithfulness of D. Teresa in the Covenant that he established with his sister D. Urraca I of León. This is a curious fact because although the lineage was prolonged by the first child, it was the second one who came to exert more important functions.
The Guedões succeeded through his son Egas Gomes Barros, Present at the court between 1169 and 1183, which was "created" since Young in the royal court, because in the donation that King Alfonso I of Portugal made him of Lobrigos [disambiguation needed] he calls it "Alumpno and Fideli vassal Meo".
He attended the community of the monastery of Santa Maria de Salzedas in Tarouca, which became familiar. One of his daughters married the ensign of Sancho I of Portugal, Soeiro raimundes de riba de vizela. The brothers of this, however, are not in court. The firstborn is certainly Gomes Viegas, from whom the Bastos are descended. "
He was the son of Mem Guedaz Guedeão (1040-?) and of Sancha. He married twice, the first with D. Chamôa Mendes de Sousa (1085-?), daughter of Mem Viegas de Sousa, 8th Lord of the House of Sousa and D. Teresa Fernandes de Marnel, of whom he had: Egas Gomes Barroso (1100-?) married Urraca Vasques de Ambia, daughter of Vasco Guedelha of Colombia
Gueda Gomes Guedeão (1110-?) married Urraca Henriques of Portocarreiro, daughter of Henrique Fernandes Magro and Ouroana Reimão de Portocarreiro.
Pero Gomes Guedeão (1120-?) married Elvira Mendes de Riba Douro, daughter of Mem Moniz de Riba Douro (1070-?)
The second marriage was with (1080-?) of whom he had: Nuno Gomes Guedeão (c. 1120-?) married Maria Álvares de Rabaldes,
Marine Gomes Guedeão (c. 1120-?) married Mem Pires de Longos,
Outside the marriage and with a lady whose name the story does not record had: Ferno Gomes "The Captive" (1110-?).
