In 1926 vestigt fotograaf G.H. Niestadt zich vanuit de Kerkstraat 5 op de tweede verdieping van Voorstraat 8, het pand met de kruidenierswinkel van vader Veerman. Niestadt heeft daar tot zijn overlijden in 1942 een daglichtstudio voor portretfotografie. Zoon Willem Cornelis Veerman begint in 1927 in de winkel van zijn vader een handel in foto-artikelen. In de loop der jaren komt op de fotografische activiteiten het zwaartepunt te liggen. Veerman zet daarbij de werkzaamheden van fotograaf Niestadt voort, die hij in de jaren voor diens overlijden langzamerhand heeft overgenomen. Begin jaren vijftig stopt Veerman met de verkoop van kruidenierswaren en richt hij zich volledig op fotografie en de verkoop van foto-artikelen.
