Il existe deux Marie Madeleine Renard nées à Flobecq pendant cette période: Marie Madeleine Renard, née le 28/11/1665, et Marie Madeleine Renart, née le 26/03/1678. Bien qu'on ne puisse trancher avec une totale certitude, il est peu probable que Marie Madeleine née en 1665 ait accouché de son fils Pierre Louis en 1722, soit à l'âge de 56 ans. L'autre Marie Madeleine a 44 ans à cette date, ce qui est plus plausible. Cette hypothèse est donc privilégiée. 

S'agissant du décès, on retrouve ces deux femmes mentionnées comme "Durenard", de sorte qu'on peut penser que dans les deux cas, leur nom a été "écorché" au fil des actes (de "Devos" à "Renard" ou "Durenard"). L'une est décédée le 27/01/1744, "mariée, âgée de 63 ans", l'autre en 04/1754 (jour non précisé, pas plus que l'âge). Ici aussi, les certitudes sont difficiles à établir.  L'âge de 63 est sans doute approximatif car il amène à l'année 1681, qui ne correspond à aucune année de naissance des deux Marie Madeleine. Cependant, cela semble plus proche de la Marie Madeleine née en 1678. C'est donc cette hypothèse qui est retenue. 

A défaut de sources suffisantes, c'est le,principe du rasoir d'Ockham qui est ici mis en oeuvre ... La prudence s'impose.
