James H. Hale was born in Tennessee. He married Nancy Jane Ragsdale 21 March 1870 in Washington County, Ark.(Washington Co Marriage Book C, pg 570.) They
were blessed with eight children, six daughters and two sons. James (Jim) served in the Crawford Co., Benton Regiment, Arkansas Cavalry, of the Confederate Army. His pension application was filed in Benton Co, Arkansas in
1906. Arkansas Death records shows that he died in Washington County. Nancy survived him.
