Visitation: A memorial visitation honoring his memory will be held on Thursday April, 1, 2010 (yes, April Fool's Day. Carl would have loved that) from 5-7pm at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale, AZ.

Peacefully passed away, at age 82, on March 22, 2010. He was a beloved husband, father and a terrific friend to the many who knew him. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Colleen Friese Paul, his sister Janet Pulsipher (husband David) and his brother Boyd (wife Jackie). He is survived by his loving wife Bethellee Kinker Paul, daughter Monette P. Makepeace (husband Dave) and three sons; Dr. Randall Paul (wife Judy), Brenn Paul (wife Carolyn) and Shayne Paul (wife Melanie), sister Ina Young Hansen (husband Clyde), brother Leslie (wife Vella), sister-in-law Diane Taylor (husband Norris) and Brother-in Laws David Friese (wife Joan) and Robert Friese. Through his marriage to Bethellee he embraced another son Gary Roberts (wife Laura) and a daughter Debbie Farmer (husband Jim). He has 11 grandchildren (Casey, Jenny, Andrea, Jordan, Alyssa, Bryce, Amber, Mandy, Garrett, Yvonne and Tracy), 3 great grandchildren (Scott, Lindsay and Jeff) and 1 great, great grandson (Ayden). Carl was born in Ogden, Utah on November 4, 1927 to father Arza Walter Paul and mother Glenna Minerva Poulter. He lived in Ogden until he joined the Navy at age 17. He served for two years and, upon his discharge, performed missionary service in Europe for the Mormon Church. He then chose his career path and attended Northwestern University in Chicago where he earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. He and his family moved from Idaho to Scottsdale, AZ in 1963. Carl opened his dental office on Osborn Road where he successfully practiced his profession for over 30 years.Carl was a very colorful and charismatic individual who loved outdoor activities including fishing, hunting and four-wheeling. He made many friends during his years practicing dentistry and through community service organizations such as the Scottsdale Charros and Sertoma. He had a casual yet elegant way about him, living and loving life to the fullest, enriching those around him by sharing of himself, his knowledge, his wisdom and his very caring nature. Carl will most certainly be missed by his family and all who knew him.
