Mercer passed away on August 1, 2018.

He was born March 30, 1926 to Robert C. and Florence Schmitt Trevers in Berkeley, California. He served in the Merchant Marines in World War II. He served in both Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

On leave, he came to Salt Lake City and met the love of his life, Cherie Christensen. They married on August 25, 1945. They had two children: Gregory Carl and Shannon.

Mike worked for Christensen Diamond Products. He worked as supervisor in shipping and receiving until retiring.

Mike loved the Rocky Mountains, especially the Unitas, where he became an avid fisherman and loved hiking to the backcountry lakes. He belonged to Gyro Social Club and Fortune 18, where he and Cherie made numerous and lifelong friends. Mike was an avid golfer. He loved all his golf buddies.

Mike loved to play cards and was a master at any game. Mike and Cherie loved to travel and they had the opportunity to travel the world together. Mike was a devoted and loving family man. His family was everything to him. He lost his beloved wife in 2002 and missed her terribly every day.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Cherie; son, Gregory Carl; daughter-in-law, Loretta; in-laws, Howard and Madge Christensen; and sister and brother-in-law, Mavis and Bud Walker. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Trevers Hansen (Larry); grandchildren, Julie Reeves (Stuart), Tara Delatorre (Raul), Meagan Greenleaf (Chad), Ashley Schaible (Ryan), and Trever Hansen (Halee); and thirteen great-grandchildren.

We want to express our love and appreciation to Beehive Senior Care, especially Barbara, who took such special, loving care of him. Thanks to Silverado Hospice and Brittney for her exceptional love and care.
