Notes about Richard James Mulford

Richard Milford, born to Thomas & Sarah (nee Paris) Mulford in the village of Pamber, Hampshire, England in 1857( all census records show 1852)

He emigrated to New Zealand on the good ship "Charlotte Gladstone" in 1872 arriving in Port Chalmers in 1873.

He lived in and around Otago working as a farm labourer where he met and married his wife Grace Jane (nee Wheeler) in 1885.

After living at Ravensbourne's Castle Street, they moved to Hope Street Nth East Valley in 1895. He was working at that time as a labourer in the Nth East Valley Quarry. They moved from there to 8 Felix Street Nth East Valley in 190- they were still there in 1918.

By that time they had eight children, he had risen to the position of overseer with a shot firing ticket for blasting rock.

Their eight children 2 boys and 6 girls all attended Nth East Valley Primary School.
