atherine Hinshaw was the 2nd wife of Adam Surber III (1812-1877*) and the daughter of Elias Hinshaw and Sarah Williams.

She is buried near Adam Surber and his first wife, Eliza (Harrell) Surber. Catharine and Adam had at least three children:
Elias Bryant Surber, husband of Nancy C. Philips,
Anna Eliza Surber, wife of William C. Bishop, and
John William Surber, husband of Harriet R. Phillips.

Catherine died tragically of an overdose of morphine.

*Son of Adam Surber II & Ruth Hubble -- and grandson of Adam Surber I & Margaret).

Death - Surber, Mrs Catharine, living 4 miles southwest of St Mary's died 13 March 1878 from an overdose of morphine administered by her own hands. She was sixty years old.
