(II) SAMUEL FULLER,son of Edward Fuller, was born about 1612 at Leyden,
Holland, and died at Barnstable, Massachusetts, October 31, 1683. He grew up
under the care of his uncle, Dr. Samuel Fuller, who was made freeman in 1634.
From Plymouth he removed to Scituate, where he married, and in 1644 he went to
Barnstable and settled at Scorton Neck, where he was joined in a few years by his
relative, Matthew. He was a church member in all three places, a very pious man
of a retiring nature. He took little part in public affairs and lived in a secluded
spot. While in Scituate, Samuel Fuller became constable in 1641, and his name
occasionally appears as a juryman and on committees to settle difficulties that arose
with the Indians. He was the only one of the passengers on the “Mayflower” who
settled permanently in Barnstable, Massachusetts.
Samuel Fuller was married, April 8, 1635, at Mr. Cudworth’s, in Scituate, by
