[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 9, Ed. 1, Tree #2432, Date of Import: Oct 20, 2000] JOHANNES "JOHN" WAGGONER Sr. Was born 1764 in Pennsylvania, Died 1818, buried in Shively (Turner) Cemetery near the intersection of Olive Road and Hoover Ave., just West of Dayton, Ohio. This cemetery is located about four miles South of Stillwater Old German Baptist Brethren Church. The terrain is rather rough and the Cemetery has been neglected for years. John's tombstone is field limestone simply with the initials J.W. carved on it. John married about 1787 to Esther Cripe, dau. of Jacob and Esther (Ulrich) Greib, born 1762, died 1834. After John's death, all his family moved to Indiana. Otho Winger's "History of the Brethren in Indiana" states that in 1832, the Pyrmont, or North Fork, congregation was fully organized with sixteen charter members, five of whom were Esther Waggoner, John Waggoner, Jr. and wife, Samuel Waggoner (Esther's youngest son), and her son-in-law, Joel Foutz. Esther's grave is in the Pyrmont Cemetery, and is inscribed "She is the Mother and Grandmother of all the Waggoners buried in this yard".
