[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 9, Ed. 1, Tree #2432, Date of Import: Oct 20, 2000] JOHN ANDREW "Andy" GARDNER; John Andrew "Andy" Gardner was born July 27, 1893, near Collins, Missouri, to William Finch and Catherine Ellen (Tillery) Gardner. He passed away October 27, 1986, at the Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri. Andy's early years were spent in the Collins, Missouri, area. On September 5, 1917, he was united in marrage to Ada Susan Killingsworth in Osceola,Missouri. To this union two daughters were born. Andy and Ada made their home in St.Clair County all of their married life. He farmed in Lowry City area many years before moving into Lowry City in recent years. Andy was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jim and Bert Gardner, one half-brother, Paul Theron Gardner, one sister, Bertha Temple Baxter, two half-sisters, Clara Mae Lovewell and Martha Ellen Ward, and one son-in-law, Walter Verl Capps. He is survived by his wife, Ada, of the home, two daughters; Mrs. Wanda Capps and Mrs. Ruby Reynolds and husband Cleo, both of Kansas City, Missouri; one half sister, Mrs Cuba Louise Baker of Osceola,Missouri. Four Grandchildren, Dennis Capps and wife,Debbie, Karen Eastland and husband, Jeff, Carolyn Land and husband, Cecil of the Kansas City area, and Sandra Edward and husband, Chuck of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. Andy and Ada were devoted to each other throughout their married life. Special mention should be made of the care Ada gave Andy in his failing years and just before his death. Funeral service were thursday, October 30, at 1 P.M. at the Goodrich Chapel with Rev. James Fulton officiating. Music by Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hartley. Casketbearers were Robert Gardner, Howard Dozier, John F. Meloy, James Gardner, Dave Lovewell, Arthur Lovewell. Interment in Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery, Collins,Missouri under the direction of Randy Sheldon, Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola, Missouri. Writer has on file a copy of his Marriage license.
