Notes about Hugh ROSS

Aodh de Ross, 4th Earl of Ross was the son of William de Ross, 3rd Earl of Ross and Euphemia de Berkeley. He married, firstly, Matilda Bruce, daughter of Sir Robert le Brus, 1st Lord Brus and Margaret, Countess of Carrick, circa 1308. He married, secondly, Margaret Graham, daughter of Sir David Graham of Kincardine, before 29 November 1329. He married, thirdly, Jean Stewart, daughter of Walter Stewart, 6th High Steward of Scotland and Alice Erskine. He died on 19 July 1333, killed in action.

He held the office of Sheriff of Cromartie in 1316. He succeeded to the title of 4th Earl of Ross [S., c. 1225] on 28 January 1322/23. He fought in the Battle of Halidon Hill on 19 July 1333.
