LAST WILL & TESTAMENT Richard Campkin Senior 1718 26hw58

In the name of God Amen I RICHARD CAMPKIN the elder of Pirton late of Pirton in the county of Hertford yeoman being old and infirme of body but of perfect mind and memory blessed bee God for the same therefore doe make this my last will & testament as followeth First I commend my Soule into the hands of Allmighty God my maker having by the sole merritts of Jesus Christ my only Savior and redeemer to have all my sinnes committed and to bee made peace of eternall life for my body I commit to the earth whereof it was made to bee buryed in such seemly sort as my executor hereafter named shall think fitt as for that worldly estate which it hath pleased God to bless me withal I dispose thereof as followeth

Imprimis I give and devise unto ELIZABETH my daughter of the sume of fforty shillings of Lawfull money of greate Brittaine to bee paid unto her by my executor hereafter named within three months next after my decease

Item I give and devise unto ELIZABETH HANSCOMB my granddaughter the sume of twenty shillings of Lawfull money of greate Brittaine

Item I give and devise unto RICHARD CAMPKIN my Grandsonne the sum of five pounds of Lawfull money of greate Brittaine to bee paid unto him by my executor hereafter named within three moneths next after my decease

Item I give and devise unto RICHARD CAMPKIN my sonne for and during the terme of his naturall life all and every my ffreehold messuages cottages lands tenements and hereditament with the appurtenances scituate lying and being in Purton in the county of Hertford aforesaid and alsoe all and every my coppyhold and customary messuages cottages lands tenements and hereditament with the appurtenances lying in Pirton aforesaid holden of the severall mannors of Pirton Doddingsells and Pirton in the County of Hertford aforesaid by coppy of Court Roll

And after his decease then I give and devise my said ffreehold and copyhold messuages cottages lands tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances in Pirton aforesaid unto RICHARD CAMPKIN my grandsonne and to his heires and assignes forever of which I inherited as is copyhold I have made severall surrenders to the use of my will …..allways and upon condicon notwithstanding that if the said RICHARD CAMPKIN my sonne and RICHARD CAMPKIN my grandsonne or their heires doe and shall out of my said freehold and copyhold messuages cottages lands tenements and hereditaments well and truly pay arrange to bee paied unto ELIZABETH my granddaughter nowe wife of ROBERT PRIMATT the full sume of sixteene pounds of lawfull money of Greate Brittaine within two years next after my decease and alsoe doe and shall well and truly pay more out of my said ffreehold and copyhold lands and tenements unto ANNE GUTHERIDGE my granddaughter the full sume of sixteene pounds of Lawfull money of greate Brittaine within four years next after my decease and alsoe doe and shall well and truly pay arrange to bee paied more out of my said ffreehold and Coppyhold Lands and tenements to SARA GUTHERIDGE my Grandaughter the full summe of sixteene pounds of lawfull money of greate Brittaine within six yeares next after my decease

Item my will further is that if it shall happen the said RICHARD CAMPKIN my sonne and RICHARD CAMPKIN my Grandsonne their heires do neglect or refuse to pay the said severall legacies to the said ELIZABETH nowe wife of ROBERT PRIMATT ANNE GUTHERIDGE and SARA GUTHERIDGE as above in this my will devised unto them at the severall and respective dayes and time above in this my will mentioned then my will and intent is and I doe hereby give and devise all my said ffreehold and copyhold messuages cottages lands tenements and hereditaments unto the said Elizabeth wife of Robert Primett Anne Gutheridge and Sara Gutheridge to have and to hold unto them and their heires until they and every of them shalbee fully satisfied and paied their severall and respective legacies above in this my will devised unto them

Item my will and mind further is that if it shall happen that any of my said three last menconed Grandaughters ELIZABETH ANNE and SARA do dye before their legacies shalbee paid unto them then the legacies of her or them soe dyeing shall goe and bee to the survyvers or survyver of them

Item all the rest and residue of my personal estate money goods and chattels whatsoever (line illegible in fold of paper) paied and discharged I give and devise unto the said RICHARD CAMPKIN my sonne whom I doe make constitute and assigne and appoint sole executor of this my last will and testamant revoking all former wills heretofore by me made In witnesse whereof I the said Richard Campkin the testator have hereunto sett my hand and seale to this my will …….in two sheets of papper this sixteenth day of ffebruary Anno Domini 1718 and in the fifth yeare of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord George by the grace of God King of greate Brittaine Ffrance and Ireland defender of the faith
