He was on the King's service in Gascony with the Earl of Leicester, and having forfeited his estates in that Earl's rebellion, they were given to Robert de Brus, from which he redeemed them in 1268. He was summoned to military service 17 Jan 1257/58 to 7 Nov 1302, and to attend the King at Shrewsbury 28 Jun 1283, also to attend the King wherever he might be 8 Jun 1294. He was summoned to Parliament from 24 Jun 1295 to 13 Sep 1302, whereby he is held to have become Lord Faucomberge. Upon his marriage to Agnes, sister and coheir of Sir Piers de Brus III, they had had livery of her purparty of her brother's lands (the castle, park, and forest of Skelton, the manors of Marske, Eastburn, etc. in co. York, etc.) 14 Dec 1272. While she was still living 29 Oct 1275, Agnes appears to have been deceased by 25 May 1280, when Walter, alone, had a grant to him and his heirs, of free warren in his demesne lands in Skelton, Marske, Eastburn, etc. Source: www.geneajourney.com
