1827 A burglary occurred at the house of Thomas Bates, at Westbury Farm that resulted in the apprehension of Joseph Sinfield and William Worsley both of whom were sentenced to death on July 25th 1827 at Hertford Assizes.

1841 widower aged 66, living near Westbury Farm, Offley with his sister, Rebeckah Bates 55.
