Captain Hon. George Charles Spencer was born on 15 August 1903. He was the son of Charles Robert Spencer, 6th Earl Spencer and Hon. Margaret Baring. He married, firstly, Barbara Blumenthal, daughter of Benjamin Blumenthal, on 13 June 1931. He and Barbara Blumenthal were divorced in 1962. He married, secondly, Kathleen Elizabeth Sheila Henderson, daughter of J. J. Henderson, on 9 November 1966. He died in October 1982 at age 79.

Captain Hon. George Charles Spencer was educated at Royal Naval College, Osborne, Isle of Wight, England.2 He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England. He gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Navy. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Leicester Yeomanry (Territorials). He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 33rd (St. Pancras) Anti-Aircraft Battalion, Royal Artillery (Territorials).
