Notes about Rose STOUGHTON

Rose Stoughton, baptized 22 November 1629, died prior to 5 November 1677 at Dover, N.H. She married there about 1651, Richard OTIS, blacksmith and early Quaker. He was born say 1625 and died at Dover on 28 June 1689. Richard and Rose had eight children: Stephen, Martha, Anne, Richard, Judith, Solomon, Experience and Nicholas. He married twice after Rose, Shuah (Starbuck) Heard and Grizzel Warren. Sarah Pinkham married Joseph Austin, who were first cousins through this family, both grandchildren of Richard and Rose. They named a child Stoughton Austin. [MCA, p. 783, and Gen. Dict. of Me. and N.H., pp. 520-21 (Otis)].
