Florence Annie Alexandra Tapling was born in July 1875 at Brighton, Sussex, England. She was the daughter of Thomas Tapling and Elizabeth Annie Keay.

She married Colonel Thomas Francis Fremantle, 3rd Baron Cottesloe, son of Thomas Francis Fremantle, 2nd Baron Cottesloe and Lady Augusta Henrietta Scott, on 16 April 1896 at Cuckfield, Sussex, England. She died on 4 April 1956 at age 80 at North, Buckinghamshire.

She lived in 1901 at Paddington, London, England. After her marriage, Florence Annie Alexandra Tapling was styled as Baroness Cottesloe on 13 April 1918.
