Mary Duncombe (born Reynes), 1489 - 1539 Mary Duncombe (born Reynes) was born in 1489 to Richard Reynes and Maud Reynes (nee Booth). Richard was born in 1470, in Clifton Reynes, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. Maud was born in 1472, in Dunham Massey, Bowden, Cheshire, England.

Mary had 4 siblings: Anne Reynes and 3 other siblings.

Mary married William Duncombe in 1503, at age 14. William was born in 1480, in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, England. They had 7 children: Elizabeth Waller (born Duncombe), Roger Duncombe and 5 other children.

BARLEY END (Berle, xiii cent.) is first mentioned in 1291, when the gift of the Earl of Cornwall's land in this 'hamlet' to Ashridge College was confirmed. In 1531 John Duncombe described himself in his will as 'of Barley Ende.' An account of the parish in the early part of the 18th century says that Barley End House was the seat of William Duncombe, whose family had held it for generations.
