Pope's Pioneers of Massachusetts, p. 149: "Jeffrey, Salem, propr. 1636; brought suit in court in 1639 to recover pay for his service and for a boat. In court 12 (5) 1642. Sold 30 acres of land at Mackerel Cove for 30s. 6 Oct 1651; went "out of this jurisdiction" so that his acknowledgment of the deed could not be recorded a month later, as William Dixie testified. Isaac, cooper, bought land in Salem, 1653, and in Topsfield, 1673; had son Jeffrey. Joseph, Salem, propr. 1639, rem. to Topsfield, wea ver, constable. Both these may have been sons af Jeffrey."

By B.K. Uptagrafft: Jeffery Eastie/Estey was born in 1587 and died 4 Jan 1657-58. He was the eldest son of Christopher Eastie/Estye and Jeffery was the emigrant to America. He was born in the parish of Hintlesham, England, and md. Margaret Pett/Pote at St. Peters Church, Feston Parish, England on 29 May 1606. They had two children, as indicated, and lived in or near Feston and possibly, later, in the nearby parish of Woolverstone, Suffolk County, England. This latter being indicated as their point of departure when leaving England to go to America. Jeffery and his family arrived in Salem Colony, Mass., prior to 25 Apr 1636, exact date unknown. It was on this date that Jeffery was granted a family allotment of land, Three quarters of one acre, in town. In the years that followed he acquired other property through town grants, 20 and 10 acres respectively and he also purchased other properties. In 1651, having disposed of his properties in Salem, Mass., he moved with his dau. Mary (Catherine) and her husband Henry Scudder of Salem, Mass., to Southold, Long Island, New York. He disposed of his property there in Aug 1657, and they moved to Huntington, Long Island, New York, where he lived unt. his death on 4 Jun 1657/58. His death was the first settler's death to be recorded there. Jeffery is bur. somewhere at Little Neck, Long Island, New York. His last will and testament, written by his son-in-law, Henry Scudder, was proved at Huntington, Long Island, New York, on 23 Jan 1658. In his will, he mentions his children, Mary (Catherine) and Isaac.
