He was 4th Earl and ward to Alexander, King of Scotland, and attained a high reputation in all martial and warlike exercises. Because his mother, Maud, was the eldest co-heiress of William Marshall, to Roger was assigned
the MARSHALSHIP of England. Roger m. Isabel, sister of Alexander, King of Scotland. He died without issue in 1270, when all his titles and possession devolved upon his nephew Roger Bigod.
