William G. Orgain later took the name of Allen in order to inherit his great uncle's properties. He helped to organize Company D or the Theth Battalion of Artillery, Confederate States Army & equipped and uniformed his med. He was elected Captain of his company and later promoted to Major when the battalion was organized.
