Arthur was christened on 23 Oct 1608 in Droitwich in Worcestershire, England

Arthur was the first American ancestor. He payented 200 acres in the year 1649 between Lawn's Creek and Lower Chippoakes Creek. He built himself a brick house known as Bacon's Castle. As the first american ancestors of the families bearning the name of Allen or Allan number nearly a score, it is difficult to decide to which, if any, he was related. In early times the name took the formes of Allin, Alline, Allyn, Allein, Allan or Allen. The derivation often given is from the personal name Alan, common in Norman times. The name is also often from MacAlain, the ancestor of Clan MacAlain, being Colla da Chrioch, a decendant of the monarch Niall of the pof the Nine Hostages, celebrated in Milesian song and story. Over fifty families of the name in Europe have th erights to the coats armorial.
