Notes about Petrus Stroomer

Pastoor en Rector Begijnhof van 1923 tot zijn overlijden en Deken vanaf 1926. Hij was de opvolger van Mgr. Bosman.
Petrus Stroomer werd op 22 maart 1890 tot priester gewijd, waarna hij 17 jaar kapelaan was in de Maria Magdalena in Amsterdam.
In 1913 werd hij rector van het St. Bernardusgesticht in Amsterdam waarna in 1923 de benoeming volgde tot rector van het Begijnhof.
In 1907 tot 1910 was hij eerst pastoor te Lambertsschagen in de Weere Dekenaat Werfershoof.
Van 1910 tot 1913 was hij Rector der Stichting H. Joannes de Deo te Amsterdam.
Van 1921 tot 1923 was hij pastoor in de St. Annakerk te Gouda.
In 1923 op 1 augustus kwam hij als Rector in de Begijnhofkapel.
Deken van Amsterdam van 1926 tot 1929. Zijn inwijding vond plaats in de "Onze Lieve Vrouwe van Altijddurende Bijstand" Chassestraat 64.
Deken Petrus Stroomer werd geboren op 7 april 1861 te Schagen en overleed op 64 jarige leeftijd na een korte ziekte in het Onze Lieve Vrouwe-Gasthuis op 24 januari 1929.
Zijn uitvaart naar Sint Barbara vond plaats vanuit "de H. Willibrordus binnen de Veste" (De Duif) Prinsengracht 754, nadat de uitvaartdienst was gehouden door Mgr. J.D.J. Aengenent; Bisschop van Haarem. De Lijkrede werd uitgesproken door Pastoor en Kanunnik G.C. van Noort.
Op initiatief van Mgr. Stroomer en de hr. W.M.J.L. Kuyt werd op 17 april 1928 op het Begijnhof een monument voor kardinaal Van Rossum (3.9.1854-30.8.1932) onthuld ter herinnering aan het 27e Eucharistichs Congres van 1924.
Het oorspronkelijke monument had een brede sokkel met in het midden kardinaal Van Rossum, geflankeerd door bisschop Augustinus Josephus Callier (bisschop van Haarlem van 1903 tot 1928) en Thomas Louis Heijlen: voorzitter van het permanente Comite der Eucharistische Congressen.
Het stond opgesteld op de hoek van het kleine bleekveld met het front naar de uitgang aan het Spui en voor het Houten Huys.
Het monument was ontworpen door de architect J.T.A.M. Kuijt (1884-1944) en de beeltenissen zijn gemaakt door de beeldhouwer Gerard Hoppen.
Van Petrus Stroomer ontbreekt een schilderij in de pastorie.
Hij werd opgevolgd door Gerardus van Noort.
