Aan het illegale werk van de illegale CPN namen ook sympathisanten deel. Zij waren geen lid, maar stonden wel achter het verzet van de CPN. Tot hen behoorde Adrianus van Meersbergen, broer van de Tilburgse CPN'er Piet van Meersbergen. Zo werkte hij mee aan de uitgave van het illegale CPN-blad 'Vrede-Veiligheid'. Op 23 maart 1943 deed de Duitse politie bij hem huiszoeking. Er werd niets gevonden, maar hij werd gearresteerd en overgebracht naar Rotterdam, vanwaar hij later via Vught naar Duitsland werd getransporteerd. Zijn familie heeft nadien niets meer van hem gehoord. Hij overleed op 3 april 1945 in Dachau.
Adrianus wordt geboren op 30 juni 1909 in Tilburg als zoon van Josephus van Meersbergen en Johanna van Huijkelom. Hij werkt als draadmaker en trouwt in 1935 met Elisabeth de Beer, met wie hij twee kinderen heeft.
Adrianus is de broer van CPN’er Piet van Meersbergen en tijdens de Duitse bezetting werkt hij als communistisch sympathisant mee aan de uitgave van het illegale partijblad ‘Vrede-Veiligheid’. Hij is echter geen lid van de partij.
Op 23 maart 1943 doet de Duitse politie bij hem een huiszoeking en hoewel er geen belastend materiaal is gevonden, wordt Adrianus alsnog gearresteerd en overgebracht naar het Haagseveer in Rotterdam. Dit politiebureau heeft het bombardement van mei 1940 doorstaan en wordt door de Duitsers gebruikt als gevangenis voor politieke vijanden van het regime, onder wie ook de communisten en linkse activisten.
Via kamp Vught wordt hij later naar de Duitse kampen gedeporteerd, waar hij, zonder dat zijn familie dat te weten komt, in concentratiekamp Dachau terechtkomt. Op 4 april 1945 overlijdt hij daar als gevolg van de ontberingen en mishandelingen, op 35-jarige leeftijd.
