    Thonies werd in Warburg tijdens een ruzie dodelijk verwond door Johann Bake uit Wettesingen, die daarna uit het dorp vluchtte, maar later vrijgeleide ontving om terug te keren.
    Bake was daarna nog jaren burgemeester van Wettesingen. Hij moest op zijn kosten een gedenkteken ter nagedachtenis aan het slachtoffer laten oprichten.
    Deze "Pfankuchenstein"(een zgn. Steinkreus) bij Warburg staat nog vermeld op een oude kadasterkaart van Warburg van 1832.
