Story from Helen Helman, October 18, 2000:
"This was given to me, by my mother who was 90 years young this June. This concerns her father Henry F. CORBIN, my grandfather, when he and his brothers were young in Indiana.
"Henry and his brothers were playing outside, but kept running into their mother's (my great grandmother) vegetable garden. She kept telling them to play somewhere else, or she was going to take a "switch" to them. As they were bigger than she was, they ignored what she said. After many warnings, she started after them with her "switch, "but they out ran her, as she was a very short lady. The boys thought they had "outsmarted Mom" when they finally settled into the big bed that night to sleep. When their mother knew they were sound asleep, she very quickly eased into the room and tied down the sheets on all sides, so they could not get away. Then they received their "due reward" for not obeying Mom. After that, the boys realized that even if they were bigger than Mom, she still knew a few tricks on how to discipline them."
